Project description:
Green Grid deploys open-source sensor stations at the UC Davis Student Farm, built in partnership with the Student Farm and the Leauthaud Lab at UC Santa Cruz. Two irrigation head stations track water flow and pressure. Four soil stations measure water tension at three depths. All stations transmit wirelessly over LoRa to a public dashboard. The goal is a 15-30% reduction in irrigation water use, verified by comparing water meter readings before and after the sensors go in.
