Project description:

This project rests on the intersection of both student sustainable waste disposal education and promoting sustainable institutional change. In partnership with the ASUCD Environmental Policy and Planning Commission, the UC Davis Office of Sustainability, and UC Davis Custodial Services, creates a pilot 3-stream waste disposal system (paper, landfill, and containers) with clear signage in the UC Davis Shields Library to combat current recycling contamination and maximizes our landfill diversion rate. Shields Library is a campus hotspot that many students frequently visit, therefore this project is successful in strengthening student awareness and knowledge about how to sort waste correctly.
