Project description:
This project brings UCD educators and local teacher leaders together in Tanzania to train 20-30 secondary school teachers to use their school gardens as outdoor science classrooms for community science. Teachers will learn hands-on, student-led methods for investigating local sustainability issues like biodiversity loss, food security, and climate change while connecting lessons to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each participating teacher will receive a tablet to support ongoing student environmental data collection. By empowering teachers with new skills and tools, this project multiplies its impact: every trained educator will reach hundreds of students every year.
