Project description:

In a successful effort to reduce bicycle abandonment on campus and expand their capacity to provide bicycle services, the ASUCD Bike Barn created the Mobile Bicycle: a pedal-powered vehicle (called a Fiet) custom built by Fiet of Strength using upcycled bicycle parts, repurposed lumber and metal tubes. The Mobile Bicycle provides bike repairs and tune-ups throughout the UCD campus, educates students on bicycle maintenance and safety, and offers low-cost pick-up and delivery services for bikes that require repair at their main shop. By increasing service accessibility beyond the Bike Barn’s physical location, the Mobile Bicycle helps the UCD community overcome barriers to using bikes as a consistent, sustainable option for transportation.
