Project description:

This program addresses the exorbitant amount of waste from single-use plastic products used in chemistry laboratories on the UC Davis campus. Commonly used materials such as pipette tip boxes, microcentrifuge tubes, conical tubes and pipette tips are all currently being sent to landfill. The goal of this project is to collaborate with Polycarbin to help initiate a closed-loop plastics economy that will contribute and enhance the University's zero waste and sustainable procurement practices while maintaining laboratory research integrity. The project leads are tracking the amount of plastic in the closed loop system, as well as the cost savings associated with the Polycarbin partnership.
