Project description:

Residence Halls Compost Bins

This project aims to teach students how beneficial and easy composting can be by providing each dorm in Kearney Hall with their own compost bin. These small compost bins will attach to the trash cans and collect food scraps that would otherwise be thrown into the landfill. The project monitors the levels of composting and aims to expand the composting programs that have already been established at UC Davis. To do this, the team plans to measure and compare the amount of composting in Kearney Hall to it's identical counterpart Laben Hall in order to provide the Student Housing Department with new information on if it would be beneficial to provide composting bins in student rooms.
