Project description:

Through the Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure Quick Build Demonstration, undergraduate and graduate Pedestrian and Bicycle Planning and Design course students and undergraduate Studio Practices in Industrial Design students will collaborate to design and construct temporary (“quick build”) sustainable transportation infrastructure interventions such as parklets and roundabouts that support people traveling campus on foot, bike, and scooter. The student teams will receive hands-on experience designing and implementing infrastructure interventions, while piloting these interventions on campus and measuring the performance to advise if they should be considered for future permanent installation. The project will take place over one year and enable students to measure before and after metrics through traffic counting, near-miss monitoring, speed detection, surveys, and interviews.
