Through Every Lens
It is crucial to amplify BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) voices, encouraging all voices towards the sustainability movement. The Sustainable Environmental Design club aims to diversify their sustainable design curriculum to be more inclusive, highlighting BIPOC contributions to the fields of landscape architecture and environmental design. To do this, a poster campaign located in Hunt Hall, home of the Landscape Architecture Program, was created highlighting the work of five designers not covered in the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design curriculum.
The Through Every Lens project aims to acknowledge where the curriculum lacks by giving students primarily insights to white and/or male perspectives and contributions to sustainability and design. Excluding other perspectives has created barriers to many other important voices and experiences. This project tackled these barriers by integrating BIPOC accomplishments into students’ every day education.
